Azrael Reed (age 8) from Virginia was excited to join a group that does reenacting of the American Revolutionary period. His mom says, "It's one thing to read about history; it's another thing to be fully immersed in it: to fall into formation with the army, to smell the gun powder, to eat camp food and warm up by the fire at night. It's been such a great experience to speak with the public and educate them on African American life as well as what children did during that time period."

Clara Barton was very interesting to me because she courageously served as a nurse during the Civil War, helping so many soldiers, and then went on to create what we know today as The American Red Cross."
Brynn Bowman (age 6) from Chesterfield, Virginia, is dressed as a soldier from the Mexican-American War.
